So you’ve come to the realization that adding web videos to your ecommerce site will bring new eyeballs to your site and, more importantly, increase conversion rates. You’ve even had some videos made already (by Marketplace Earth, of course!) and have begun implementing them on your site. Awesome! The SERP rankings should take care of themselves, right? Well, not exactly. Just placing your ecommerce videos on your site will not guarantee that you get the results you’re looking for. There are a few key things you can do to make sure you get the most from your videos.

  1. Create a video sitemap. A video sitemap allows search engines to know exactly where and what the video content on your site is. If Google doesn’t seem to be finding your videos, you need one of these.
  2. Choose wisely whether to host on your own site or a 3rd party site, such as YouTube. Use YouTube or a similar site for maximum exposure to your audience. Use your own site if you need the page views for the video to come to you (e.g. because you get paid per view).
  3. Create a snazzy title. A title is what draws viewers into a video. Make them want to hit that play button.
  4. Make use of meta tags and your video description. Google bots can’t read lips. They have no idea what is said in your video unless you tell them.

Sound like a lot of work that you don’t know how to do? Marketplace Earth to the rescue! We’re experts in this area and would be happy to help you get your video seen.
